First Birthday Return Gifts (India): Handmade Ideas Kids Keep
A first birthday is mostly a party for the grown-ups, but it is also often the first time a group of small children come to your home. Return gifts that are soft, light and actually used beat plastic toys that break by evening. Here are handmade options from Crafted by Ann with current prices, plus a few ideas for the birthday baby.
Return gifts for little guests
- Crochet Flower Hair Clips (₹40 for a pair): soft yarn petals with pearl centres, light and comfortable for children.
- Handmade Crochet Rose Keychain (₹69): clips onto a school bag or water-bottle strap, in yellow, blue, pink or rainbow.
- Crochet Bow Keychain – Red & Green (₹119): a cheerful red-and-green bow on a keyring, ideal as a bag charm.
For a mixed group, one simple approach is hair clips for the girls and a keychain bag charm for every child, so no one feels left out.
Return gifts for adults and family
- Personalised Mini Ring Album (₹149): a pocket flipbook of the baby’s first-year photos, a lovely thank-you for grandparents, aunts and uncles. Confirm photos and the final price on WhatsApp.
- Handmade Crochet Cross Keychain (₹79): a faith-inspired keychain for families who want a small blessing in the gift.
Sets that work
Per-guest totals, based on listed prices at the time of writing:
- Every child (₹69): one rose keychain as a bag charm.
- Girls (₹109): a pair of hair clips (₹40) and a rose keychain (₹69).
- Close family (₹149): a personalised mini ring album of the first year.
For the birthday baby
If you are looking for a gift for the child rather than return gifts, these suit a one-year-old:
- Colorful Wings Personalised Scrapbook (₹800): a first-year memory book with photos, notes and milestones, personalised with names and dates.
- Personalised Pyramid Photo Album (₹699): a 3D photo album that unfolds layer by layer, good as a centrepiece on the cake table.
- Crochet Baby Booties with Bow (0–12 months) (₹299): soft booties with a stitched bow, made for 0–12 months.
Party planning tips
- Think about safety. Hair clips and keychains have small parts and metal rings, so hand them to parents for toddlers rather than to the children directly.
- Pick a colour story. Matching keychains to the cake or decor colours makes the return-gift table look planned.
- Bag it simply. A paper bag with the child’s name and “Thank you for coming” is all the packaging you need.
- Order before the invitations go out. Handmade pieces need lead time, so book as soon as the date is fixed.

What are good return gifts for a first birthday in India?
